You’re on Notice: Social Networks edition

In the grand tradition of Stephen Colbert, I will now list out social networks and services which are “On Notice” and “Dead to Me”:

On Notice:

  • Facebook: I’ve had it up to here with your zombies and your vampires and your movie quizzes. What if I don’t WANT to be a pirate? Ever think about that? Still on the list, since too many of my friends are on it.
  • Dodgeball: Your locate function stinks, and your syntax is old. Still on the list, since it’s still somewhat useful. But not for very long.
  • Pownce: What ARE you? Twitter is better for quick thoughts. Tumblr is better for photos and video. Facebook and Upcoming are better for events. Pownce is good for… what, sharing the occasional music clip? A “discussion” thread? Not cutting it, man. Still on the list simply because of the music stuff.

Dead to Me:

  • MySpace: Need I say more?

  1. pretty much agree, but lately I’ve been dating outside of the tech community (the horror!) and, well, myspace seems to work better for that… even if it won’t load half the time…

  2. facebook has worked for me! without it I can’t think of any other way I would have regained lost contacts

  3. Agree with those, although I haven’t really looked at pownce. Why put them on notice? they’re not going to suddenly get better, may as well add them all to ‘dead to me’.

  4. pownce is sweet if you’re in like a small office and you can talk, send and jibba jabba in a thread
