Like a boy

I’m not normally a fan of hip-hop, but this music video is an exception. Of course, it’s not like ladies haven’t been switching the roles up for years, but the execution of song and dance by Ciara and crew still brings it on home. I especially love the drag kings and the crotchgrab. Awesome!

  1. The happier I am in my relationship, the less sense a video like this makes to me.

Maybe it isn’t the gender-roles that are the problem and just how we treat each other in general.

  2. I don’t think it should necessarily be interpreted that generally — I think it’s more of a commentary on hip hop videos in particular, which are usually pretty misogynistic. I know she didn’t SAY that, but the video sort of implies it.

In any case, it’s nice to see a female hip hop artist not completely throw herself to the “My Humps” style.
