I’m here in Austin, TX. Got on the plane in Oakland Friday afternoon, arrived late Friday evening. MJ and her friend, Tara, picked me up from the airport in their huge-ass rental SUV. Along the way, we had a session of car karaoke, where we belted out tunes from the ’80s and samples of cheesy karaoke. My personal contribution was Madonna’s Like A Virgin. It was awesome.

We went straight from the airport to the Ginger Man bar. Apparently they serve like, 80 different beers on tap or something. Not that I cared, I just went straight to saying Hi and hugging folks I knew. Met Matt, Jane, Scott, Ernie, Jason, Jonas, Tantek, Stephanie, Glenda, Molly, Dan, Christine, Jefe, and dozens more people that I can’t remember right now. Also managed to witness Tantek swing at a SpongeBob pinata, causing hundreds of ass candy to spread out over a portion of the Ginger Man’s backyard. Much fun.

After the Break Bread with Brad shindig, Tara and I went scrounging for late-night eats, and happened upon a Wendy’s which was still open. Got a couple of Spicy chicken combos and headed on to Tara’s place, where MJ, Glenda, Christine, and I are all shacking up for the duration of SXSW. Tara’s apartment is small, but with lots of space for us girls to spread out. We managed to fit in two queen-size air mattresses in the living room. I took the couch. Later, MJ, Glenda, and Christine stumbled in, and there was booty dancing and gossiping after that. Then we crashed.

I’m not sure what else is set up for the day. I’m going to have to go sign up for a badge at SXSW, and then I guess I’ll scrounge around for something to do. I promise to take pictures.
