Tentative plans

This entry is just to put my thoughts out there on what my current wedding plans are.

Date/Time
January 2005 seems to be the magic month. I’m thinking either middle of the month, or early on. Brandon suggested doing it some time around January 17 because it’s a three-day weekend. We’ll have to consult some people to figure out the right date.

Place
We were initially thinking of Brandon’s aunt’s cabin near the Santa Cruz mountains. However, it’s a rather secluded place with very little parking, and I have no idea how my parents are going to get there unless someone’s driving them. Brandon’s parents have suggested that they’d like their house to be the wedding spot, and quite frankly, if they can arrange it, I’d prefer it that way. It’s in the city, and it’s way closer to our apartment. Like I mentioned earlier, I want a simple garden wedding, with only about 10 people in attendance. A la Miranda of Sex and the City, in that Central Park garden, but not as fancy.

The Dress
I haven’t actually tried any on, of course, but I’ve already got my eyes set on a particular Jessica McClintock dress that has an A-line silhouette and an empire waist. I’ve already compiled a list of 3-4 seamstresses from the ‘net and the yellow pages to scout out. In time I shall do the bridal frenzy shopping thing. In time.

Accessories
Blue/silver tiara with fake pearls, probably from Affordable Brides. I’m totally insisting on Touch Ups shoes, because they have a shoe style called “Nicole“. It’s a vanity thing, ‘kay? I’ll also wear a necklace that my mom gave me on my 21st birthday.

Food
This might not be very traditional, but I don’t give a hoot about the food. I say we have a potluck and have each person bring something. Either that, or just have cheese and crackers. I’m not picky. I would like some sushi, but I think I’d be the only person that’d eat it. There is NO WAY I’m doing the Chinese traditional thing with 8-course dinners and shark’s fin soup. I’ve suffered through one too many of those things.

Cake
No cake. We’re having pie. Fruit pie, cream pie, custard pie, whichever. We’re having pie. This is because Brandon doesn’t like cake, and I don’t like cake frosting. Yes, we’re weird.

Guests
So far, it’s going to be my parents, Brandon’s parents, Brandon’s brother and sister-in-law with nephew/niece in tow, and maybe Brandon’s grandma. Some Malaysian guy in London that I know wants to join in; I told him he’ll be lonely, so he’s thinking it over. I don’t think he’s going to make it. I’ve invited Jasmeet and Tina ’cause we’ve bonded a little and they’re relatively nearby. Don’t know if they’ll make it though; plus I don’t know if we’re inviting anybody else. Maybe we can invite Shaenon and Andrew, Brandon? Heck, maybe we’ll just do an immediate family thing. I’ll let you guys know.

Wedding gifts
We are so doing the Amazon gift registry thing. That’s about it I think.

Okay that’s about all I can think of for now. Will update as soon as anything comes up.
